You drive Glade Road every day. You've probably never heard the story hiding behind the street sign.
If you live in Colleyville, you already know the good stuff: the quiet streets, the mature trees, the top-rated GCISD schools, and the kind of neighborhoods people spend years trying to move into. But the story of how this town got here, and how it got its name, is a lot more charming than most residents realize.
It started with a doctor and a country store
Back in 1880, a physician named Dr. Lilburn Howard Colley, a Union Army veteran, settled in what was then called Bransford. The name Colleyville didn't stick to the area until a man named W.G. Couch opened a general store on Glade Road in 1914. People started calling the community around it "Coleysville," and somewhere along the way the spelling drifted into the Colleyville we know today.
The store that gave Colleyville its name sat on Glade Road. Parisi Mortgage Group's office is at 1124 Glade Rd, the same road that named the whole town. We didn't plan that. We just like the company.
Colleyville is really six tiny towns wearing a trench coat
The city you know wasn't officially formed until 1956, when a handful of even smaller communities banded together. Their names sound like chapters from a storybook: Spring Garden, Pleasant Run, Pleasant Glade, Bransford, Red Rock, and Glen Hope. Next time someone asks where you're from, you're technically allowed to say "Pleasant Glade."
Small town, serious zip code
Roughly 26,000 people call Colleyville home today, and the 76034 zip code has quietly become one of the most sought-after addresses in the DFW Metroplex. Big lots, custom builds, and that rare combination of "close to everything, feels like nowhere." You're fifteen minutes from DFW Airport and a world away from the noise.
So… thinking about a place here?
Colleyville homes tend to run larger and pricier than the DFW average, which means financing here often looks a little different: sometimes a conventional loan, sometimes a jumbo, sometimes something in between. The good news: you don't have to figure that out from a chart on the internet. Jonathan Parisi actually works on Glade Road, knows the local builders and title companies, and can tell you in one conversation what makes sense for your situation.
